A young monk once asked his Zen master,
“Master, how do I find peace?”
The master replied,
“When you breathe in, know you are breathing in.
When you breathe out, know you are breathing out.”
The monk was puzzled,
“That’s it? That’s too simple!”
The master smiled,
“Simple, yes. But not easy.
When you truly notice one complete breath,
you will notice the peace that has always been there.”
Reflection:
Mindfulness doesn’t begin in grand temples or long retreats…
It begins in the smallest of moments, with the simplest of actions:
One conscious breath.
